Faith Supplies


One of the natural responses that often bursts forth when someone’s faith increases is the desire to give. Those who are touched by a message of faith often respond by giving back to those who touched them.

When I first put my faith in Christ, I was so moved that I instinctively began to support the church where I was saved. As I began to hear about missionaries who were taking the same message that touched me to others throughout the world, my natural response was to give. I wanted everyone to experience the same thing that I had experienced.

I still do. It’s not that I feel that I have to give. It’s simply the response of my heart to what God is doing in my life. I also
believe that the increased desire to give comes from my increased trust in God; that He will continue to supply all of my needs, even as He uses me to help to supply the needs of others.

Those who were touched by the ministry of the Apostle Paul on the island of Malta had a similar response of giving.

Paul, along with his shipmates, had been shipwrecked on the island. The islanders showed unusual kindness to Paul and the others by building a fire for them because it was raining and cold. When a viper bit Paul on the hand as he threw some brushwood into the fire, the islanders thought Paul must have been guilty of a deadly crime: even though he had escaped from the shipwreck, they thought he would now die from the snakebite. When Paul didn’t die, the islanders changed their minds and thought he was a god!

Even though Paul wasn't a god, God still had work to do through Paul. Paul and the others were invited into the home of Publius, a chief official of the island. When Paul found out that Publius’ father was sick in bed with fever and dysentery, Paul went to see him, “...and after prayer, placed his hands on him and healed him. When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured” (Acts 28:8-9).

While Paul’s faith in Christ allowed him to do many miracles in Jesus’ name, look at the response of faith that took place among the islanders who were touched by these miracles. The very next sentence of the story says:

“They honored us in many ways and when we were ready to sail, they furnished us with the supplies we needed” (Acts 28:10).

Faith supplies. When God works in powerful ways, people naturally want to respond in kind. They want to give freely to others as others have given freely to them.

In this way, Paul and the crew were able to go onto the next leg of their journey to Rome, where God had told Paul he would have to testify before Caesar. God had provided everything Paul needed to get as far as Malta. When the supplies ran out, God provided still more through the those believers who had just been touched by God through Paul’s ministry.

Supplying the needs of others is a natural response of faith.

Have you been touched in a special way through someone’s ministry? Maybe someone in your local church, which nourishes you and perhaps your family? Maybe someone who has stopped by to pray for you? Maybe someone who has sent you a special gift or card or email or text message when you needed it? Maybe a ministry on the TV, or radio, or even this one on the Internet, that God has used in a special way to reach out to you to help you to increase your faith?

If so--and if God has is causing your faith to well up within you with the desire to give--I encourage you to respond in faith and give. It’s a way to not only help that person or that ministry on the next leg of their journey, it’s a way to let them know that your heart is going with them as well. As Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Luke 12:34).

Let’s pray...

Father, show me how to respond in faith to those who have touched my life for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You Have To Have Conviction, Or You Can't Live

Then you have to do something about your conviction, or you can't stand to live with yourself! You've got to be convinced that you're right, & try to convince everybody else of the same, & be willing to fight for what you believe in.God likes whole-hearted, stout-hearted men! Have you got the guts to be one of these? If you're going to serve God, for God's sake, know what you're going to believe--& serve Him--no matter what anyone says! Take a stand of faith like Martin Luther took on Salvation by Grace before the Diet of Worms: He said, "Here I stand; I can do no other. I'm willing to die for this truth, I'm so sure of it!"You cannot stop the man of faith. You cannot dissuade him! You cannot divert him! You cannot stop him! He'll go on with or without you, or right over you, if necessary. He is determined to go blindly on faith alone, because he has found the Truth! He is of one mind, one heart, one soul, one spirit, one purpose, & will not quit until he's made it!God help us to be soldiers & willing to do anything for You, Lord, in just plain thanks for Your salvation! We must do what we know is right, & be willing to live & to die for what we know is the Truth!

Do You Want A Crown??

Heavenly crown the Lord promises us is not our salvation! You have Eternal Life through His Son, which is the gift of God. The crown is your reward, given only to winners!--Only those who run & win the race.God's Word tells us to "endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ, & entangle yourself not again in the affairs of this World, that you may please Him Who hath called you to be a soldier!" (2Tim.2:3,4)--But if you fail the Lord, you will lose your reward, & another will take the crown that God intended for you--because He's going to get the job done with or without you! (Rev.3:11)So watch & pray that ye enter not into temptation that might lead you astray from the straight & narrow way which leads to a higher crown & greater reward! Fight the good fight, keep the faith & finish the course!--And win the crown! Keep your eyes on the goal & your hand on the plow! "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: For when he is tried, he shall receive a crown of life!" (Jam.1:12) When this life is over, if what you did was right, you'll shine as the stars forever! You'll hear Jesus say to you, "Well done, thou good & faithful servant.--Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord!" (Mat.25:21)

The Temple Insitute in Jerusalem and the Rosh Hashana...

"And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation: you shall do no manner of servile work; it is a day of blowing the horn unto you. And you shall prepare a burnt-offering for a sweet savour unto the L-rd: one young bullock, one ram, seven he-lambs of the first year without blemish; and their meal-offering, fine flour mingled with oil, three tenth parts for the bullock, two tenth part for the ram, and one tenth part for every lamb of the seven lambs; and one he-goat for a sin-offering, to make atonement for you; beside the burnt-offering of the new moon, and the meal-offering thereof, and the continual burnt-offering and the meal-offering thereof, and their drink-offerings, according unto their ordinance, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the L-rd." (Numbers 29:1-6)

Our sages teach us that Rosh Hashana marks the sixth day of creation, the day that adam harishon - the first man - was created. The particular place was none other than what would come to be known as Mount Moriah. We further learn that it was on this very spot that Adam first sinned and repented. Here he built an altar and presented an offering. Some twenty generations later it was here that the angel stayed the hand of Abraham at the binding of Isaac. It ws here that the ram appeared, providing Abraham with the means through which to express his love for G-d.
Rosh Hashana is the day that we recognize the sovereignty of G-d the King, Creator of the universe and Judge of all mankind. The day on which "all beings pass before Him like tender sheep," Rosh Hashana's message is truly universal: it is incumbent upon all mankind to accept upon ourselves G-d's sovereignty, and to take account of our thoughts and actions, in light of this awesome recognition.
The trumpets sounded before the entrance to the Kodesh - the Sanctuary - of the Holy Temple on Rosh Hashana are reminders of G-d's dominion. The sound of the shofar - likewise blown on the Sanctuary steps, eminates from breath itself, the breath that comes from deep within us, where it was placed, for the first time, by G-d, in Adam, on the sixth day.

Let us Pray for these our fellow brothers and sisters in persecution

IRAQ – Father and Son Martyred

– Compass Direct NewsRayan Nafei Jamooa, a Christian, was killed by a group of armed extremists on Sept. 10 in Mosul, Iraq, Compass Direct News reported. The murder occurred only two weeks after his father, Nassar Jamooa, also a Christian, was kidnapped and killed by unidentified assailants. Although there are often financial motivations behind the kidnapping of Christians in Iraq, a local clergyman noted that ransom money was not requested in either case and maintains that these men were targeted strictly because of their faith in Christ. Pray for those who are grieving the loss of Rayan and Nassar. Pray that their killers will come to know Christ’s love, forgiveness and blessing through the lives of God’s people in Iraq.Romans 12:14, 21

INDIA – Government Warns States to Control Anti-Christian Violence – VOM SourcesVOM sources report India’s government formally warned Orissa and Karnataka state to control the anti-Christian violence that has continued into its fifth week following the murder of a Hindu leader by Maoists extremists. Despite the warning, VOM sources continue to receive reports of attacks on Christians in both states and throughout the country. * In Orissa’s Kandhamal district, a Christian man was hacked to death by militants who stopped him and his wife while they were fleeing to a relief camp in the town of Phulbani on Sept. 20. His wife escaped the scene unharmed. Arson attacks on at least 10 houses and the kidnappings of Christians have also been reported. A young Christian woman was dragged from a relief camp into a nearby jungle where she was abused by a gang of extremists.* In Karnataka, seven Christians were arrested and detained on charges of forcible conversion in Thalikare village and four churches, three in the city of Bangalore and one in Kodagu district, were ransacked and vandalized by extremists, also on Sept. 20. Pray for an end to this wave of brutal violence. Pray that believers under attack will set Christ apart as Lord and not give in to fear. Pray that those who persecute Christians will come to repentance and faith in Christ.1 Peter 3:14-17Sri Lanka – Churches Set on Fire – National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri LankaMore than 60 people set fire to a church building used for Sunday school in Puttlam district, the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka reported. Members of the church who live in the vicinity arrived at the scene and attempted to stop the arson attack and were assaulted by the mob. The attackers threatened children who had also gathered, but their parents took them away to safety. The pastor informed the police about the attack, however, they were not able to bring the large mob under control for some time, but eventually succeeded in dispersing them. Meanwhile on Aug. 17, another church in Puttlam district was set on fire and completely destroyed during the night. A group of people who visited the pastor’s house earlier that evening and threatened him are suspected of having carried out the arson attack. A police complaint has been made and three people have been arrested. Pray for the members of these two churches. Ask God to protect them and provide resources to rebuild the church building. Pray their testimonies will glorify God and draw their persecutors into fellowship with Him.Psalm 23

Ombea Uchaguzi Tarime

Mtikila aahidi kuendelea kuishambulia Chadema

MWENYEKITI wa Chama cha Democratic (DP), Mchungaji Christopher Mtikila amesema ataendelea kusambaza nyaraka zinazohusu kifo cha aliyekuwa mbunge wa jimbo la Tarime, Chacha Wangwe na hatima ya Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) kwa kuwa haogopi kukamatwa na polisi.
Kauli hiyo ya kiongozi huyo machachari imekuja baada ya kamanda wa polisi mkoa wa Mara, Liberatus Barlow kusema mapema wiki hii kuwa jeshi lake litamkamata mchungaji huyo wa kanisa la Wokovu Kamili na kumchukulia hatua za kisheria kwa kuendelea kusambaza waraka unaoihusisha Chadma na kifo cha Wangwe, akieleza kuwa waraka huo ni wa uchochezi.
Lakini pia Mch. Mtikila ameeleza hayo siku moja baada kunusurika kupigwa jiwe wakati akihutubia mkutano wa hadhara wa kampeni, tukio hilo likitokea siku chache baada ya kiongozi huyo kutunguliwa na jiwe kwenye mkutano mwingine baada ya kuituhumu Chadema kumuua mbunge huyo wa Tarime.
Shambulio la kwanza lilisababisha Mtikila akimbizwe hospitalini na kushonwa nyuzi saba baada ya jiwe alilorushiwa kumchana kisogoni.
Lakini jana, 'mtumishi huyo wa Mungu' alionekana kutoyumbishwa na kauli hiyo ya DCI wala matukio yanayotokea kwenye wilaya ambayo mapigano baina ya koo hulipuka mara kwa mara.
"Nitaendelea kusambaza nyaraka hizi hadi nifikie lengo langu la kusambaza nakala milioni moja kwa watu wasiopungua milioni 10," Mtikila aliwaambia waandishi wa habari jana.
Mtikila, ambaye aliwahi kutumikia kifungo cha mwaka mmoja baada ya kupatikana na hatia ya kusema kuwa viongozi wa CCM walimuua katibu wa zamani wa CCM, Horace Kolimba, alisema haogopi kukamatwa na polisi kwa kuwa tayari ameshakamatwa mara kadhaa na kushitakiwa.
Kiongozi huyo wa DP alimtaka Mkurugenzi wa Makosa ya Jinai (DCI), Robert Manumba kutopoteza muda wake kwa kuunda tume kwenda Tarime kumchunguza yeye (Mtikila) kama anaendelea na kusambaza waraka huo kwa kuwa ni wazi kwamba hatakoma.
"Hakuna atakayenizuia kusambaza waraka huu, na sasa ninasambaza waraka mwingine, huu unaoeleza 'Taarifa ya DP na Mwisho wa Chadema' ambao nitasambaza nyumba kwa nyumba kwa kutoa nakala za kutosha, nitasambaza mikoa yote pamoja na hapa Tarime," alieleza Mtikila, ambaye pia ni kiongozi wa taasisi ya Liberty Desk, ambayo shughuli zake hivi sasa zimefifia.
Akizungumzia uzoefu wake wa mapambano na vyombo vya dola, Mtikila alisema ameshawahi kukamatwa mara 29 tofauti na kuwekwa ndani ikiwa ni pamoja na kufunguliwa kesi za aina mbalimbali, kitu kinachomfanya asiogope kukamatwa tena kwa kuwa polisi hawana jipya.
Mtikila alisema ameamua kutoa kauli hiyo baada ya kuamini kuwa polisi wana mpango wa kumziba mdomo katika kampeni zake na yeye hatakubali na badala yake ataendelea kusambaza waraka huo.
"Imefika mahali tunafungwa mdomo tusizungumze mambo ya nchi yetu," alisema. "Wamekufa akina Sokoine kwa ajali nilizungumza, amekufa Horrace Kolimba pia nilizungumza na kupiga kelele kwa vile tuliamini wameuawa. Naomba DCI atambue kuwa mimi ni mtu mwenye msimamo nitaendelea kueleza."
Alifafanua kuwa namna pekee ya itakayomzuia asiendelee kusambaza waraka huo ni wahusika kutoa waraka mbadala utakaoeleza sababu za kifo cha Wangwe vinginevyo, ataendelea kuusambaza waraka huo hadi jamii ijue ukweli.
"Sasa ninasaka fedha zaidi ili niweze kuongeza nakala ambazo pia nitasambaza tena," alisisitiza.
Kamanda huyo alisema tayari ofisi ya DCI imeunda tume ambayo itaenda wilayani Tarime kwa ajili ya kumchunguza Mtikila kwa kitendo chake cha kusambaza waraka huo unaoeleza kuwa ana ushahidi unaojitosheleza kwamba CHADEMA ilimuua Wangwe.
Katika kampeni zake Mchungaji Mtikila amemtaka Spika wa Bunge, Samwel Sitta kutopuuza ombi la mke mdogo wa marehemu Wangwe, Mariam Wangwe, ambaye aliomba Bunge kuunda tume kuchunguza kifo cha mume wake.
Alisema kama Bunge liliunda tume kuchunguza mambo mengine, halina budi pia kuunda tume ya kuchunguza kifo cha Wangwe kwa vile ni mwakilishi wa wananchi.

SOMA HAPA CHINI HABARI ZA MAASKOFU WA KIPENTEKOSTE

MAASKOFU na wachungaji wa madhehebu ya Kipentekoste (PCT), wamepinga hatua ya serikali kutaka kuingiza Mahakama ya Kadhi katika katiba na nchi kuwa mwanachama wa Umoja wa Nchi za Kiislam (OIC), kwa madai huo ni ukiukwaji wa Katiba ya Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania.
Akitoa tamko hilo mbele ya waandishi wa habari jana, Mwenyekiti wa PCT, Askofu David Mwasota, alisema kwa miaka mingi Wakristo wa Tanzania wamekuwa wapole, watulivu na wakimya wakiamini kuwa Serikali, Bunge, Mahakama na watu wote waliomo hawategemewi kukiuka katiba.
Alisema waasisi wa nchi hii waliona mbali juu ya suala la amani ya taifa, hivyo wakaweka misingi ya katiba ambayo leo watu wanafurahia matunda yake kwa kuona amani, utulivu na mshikamano na umoja.
“Jambo hili liliwezekana tu pale walipoondoa udini na ukabila ambavyo ndivyo vikwazo vya amani. Kwa mujibu wa katiba, serikali haina dini wala kabila bali watu wake wana dini na makabila.
“Lakini tangu serikali ya awamu ya pili, ya tatu hadi hii ya nne, tumeona kunafanyika juhudi za makusudi kwa baadhi ya viongozi wa serikali, wabunge na viongozi wa dini ya Kiislamu wakijaribu kushinikiza udini kama vile kuitaka kuingiza Mahakama ya Kadhi ndani ya katiba,” alisema askofu huyo.
Aidha, alidai pamoja na wabunge kuwa na haki ya kisheria kubadili katiba, lakini si haki kwao kubadili vipengele ambavyo vinaweza kuhatarisha amani kwa jamii.
Aliongeza kama Wakristo hukumu zao ndogo hufanyika ndani ya dini za Kikristo bila kulazimisha mambo hayo yaingie katika katiba ya nchi, maana kwa kufanya hivyo ni kama kuwalazimisha Watanzania wote kuwa na imani ya Kikristo.
“Kwa kuwa katiba ya nchi hairushusu serikali ya kidini, tunashangazwa ni nini hasa sababu ya Waislamu kulazimisha masuala yao ya imani kuingia na hatimaye kutaka kutambuliwa kinyume na katiba ya nchi na serikali kuendelea kuachilia jambo hili kurudia rudia bungeni inaashiria nini?”alihoji Askofu Mwasota.
Alisema hata kama jambo hili limekubaliwa na chama tawala katika ilani yake, lakini suala hili si la kichama bali ni la kitaifa na halina maslahi kitaifa kwani lina lengo la kugawa Watanzania kidini.
Pia alitahadharisha kuwa endapo bunge litapitisha Mahakama ya Kadhi na kukubali nchi kujiunga na OIC, basi siku hiyo Wakristo nao watataka Bunge lipitishe kipengele cha wakristo kuwa na mahakama yao ndani ya katiba.
Kwa mujibu wa askofu huyo, alisema jambo hilo Wakristo wanalichukulia kama ni la kisiasa zaidi kuliko la kitaifa na kuongeza kuwa wanajua hatari yake kijamii

Wiki yote hii nimekuwa nikipokea ujumbe mfupi wa simu (sms) kutoka kwa wapendwa mbalimbali unazunguka ili kuiombea Tanzania na bunge letu ili lisipitishe maamuzi haya ya kuiingiza nchi katika umoja wa nchi za kiislamu duniani (OIC) na pia kuliingiza suala la mahakama ya kadhi katika katiba ya nchi.
Jambo hili linaonekana kuwagusa wapendwa wengi na kuchukua hisia za wengi kwani baada ya mfungo wa ramadhani bunge letu litakutana tena Dodoma ili kujadili miswada hii yote au moja kati ya hii.

Mary Munga--born-again herbalist

Mrs Mary Auma Munga, a 50year-old primary school teacher from the Siaya district in Kenya, is a herbalist with a difference. For 24 years she has been practising herbal medicine, but since she became a born-again Christian, she now does it for the glory of God. And she treats her patients free.
Mary Munga also has a special gift. She says she can tell her patients' problems before they tell her what is wrong. She says that the moment a patient comes to her, no matter what the ailment, she begins to suffer the patient's pains. They are amazed at her total understanding of their illnesses. She says it comes to her in a vision, which also gives her an insight into the cure and what type of herbs to prescribe.
Munga inherited her trade from her ancestors. For two decades she practised traditional medicine like other native herbalists, making sacrifices to dead ancestors.
But one day when her son was very sick, suffering from a strange skin disease, she says God came to her in a vision and told her of the right kind of herb to use to cure her son.
She picked the leaves of the guarva herb, boiled them and gave them to her son to drink. The boy's skin rash disappeared and has never recurred since.
"One day I was asleep when God came to me in a vision. He told me that treating people with herbs was not sinful," Mary told Palaver, "what was sinful was to do the treatment in the name of dead ancestors."
So Mary became a born-again Christian and now carries out all her treatments in the name of God. She says that before her conversion she was a traditional herbalist charging people for their cure. Now she makes the same treatments but charges no fee.
"God gave me the talent free of charge, so I now help God's children free of charge," said Mary. She says it is God who now guides her in all her cases giving her an understanding of the illness and telling her the right herbs to use for a cure.
The Kisumu based Gender Centre has recently sponsored her to conduct more research into various plants in the Siaya district. Working under Mrs Asenath Bole Odaga, the head of the Gender Centre, she is compiling a list of all the herbs she uses and what illnesses they treat.
She has also begun farming on a single acre plot to grow various herbs plus cocoa, milo, soya beans, carrots, yams, groundnuts, and traditional greens such as mito and osuga. Much of her crops are used to make special health giving beverages from milo, cocoa and soya beans prepared in novel ways. These drinks are much appreciated in local schools and her beverages are giving her a profitable business. This has given her some capital so that she can afford to care for 14 orphan children, whose parents have died of AIDS-related diseases.
Mary has no cure for AIDS but she thinks much can be done through education and creating awareness of its dangers to the public at large.

God's Delays Are Not Denials

God answers prayer, but not always our way. He is rarely rushed or in a hurry, as is evident in His Creation: It takes Him time to make a baby, a flower, a tree, a sunset--or even a blade of grass. You can't rush God. You've got to wait till it's God's time. Sometimes God delays answering prayer until you have learned the lesson He is trying to teach you. Or perhaps He is waiting for the circumstances to be ready for the result that He wants to bring. Take for example the man in the Bible who was blind from birth: He had had to be blind all his life, so that everybody would know it, & so that when Jesus came along one day & marvelously healed him, God would be glorified. (See John 9.) It may sometimes take years before you know why God didn't answer prayer as you thought He should, or right when you asked Him to, but the time will come, & you'll know God was right! Wait on the Lord!The greatest darkness is just before dawn, the greatest desperation is just before Salvation! The greatest hopelessness attacks just before rescue! So never doubt for a moment that God is going to answer--And He will! Trust Him & thank Him for the answer--even if you don't see it immediately! You'll be glad you trusted Him tomorrow!

It's always tomorrow that we are tempted to worry about. But God's Word forbids fear over the future. Jesus said, "Take no thought for the morrow: For the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself." The future will take care of itself! "For sufficient unto the day (today) is the evil thereof." (Mat.6:34) That is God's warning, commandment & promise!You are to enjoy today & take things as they come & let tomorrow take care of itself! "For as thy days, so shall thy strength be!" (Deu.33:25) God will give you power for the hour, grace for the trial--AT the hour & when it comes.--Not before! "He Who hath begun a good work in you is going to perfect it unto the end! For He is the Author & the Finisher of our faith; Who hath delivered, Who doth deliver, & Who will yet deliver!" (Phi.1:6; Heb.12:2; 2Cor.1:10) He loves you & cares for you & is going to take care of you no matter what.So for God's sake, don't worry about tomorrow! That's not your concern, that's not your worry, that's none of your business! That's God's business!"Oh, I've nothing to do with tomorrow!My Savior will make that His care.Its grace & its strength I can't borrow,So why should I borrow its care?"Trust in the Lord!--Amen?

Each time a new soul is born into the Kingdom of God, it's almost like the birth of a child. Although the baby is delivered sometimes in pain, afterward the pain is forgotten in the delight of a new soul born into this World!--And the same joy, only greater, is experienced at the birth of a new spirit into the Kingdom of God! One saved soul makes all Heaven rejoice, & is certainly sufficient payment for all the hard work & sacrifices & a few little hard trials & tribulations that we may go through.All Heaven rejoices & all the Angels rejoice more over one lost sheep that's found, each soul saved, than over all the ninety-&-nine & all the rest who are already saved & rescued! (Lk.15:7)If the Angels of Heaven rejoice over every soul that's saved, they certainly must also rejoice over our obedience to God & our service for the Lord! When your time of reward & recognition comes, are the Heavens & the Angels of God going to jump for joy over your faithfulness & your diligent service for the Lord & your sacrificial giving?
