Charles Finney-Holy Ghost filled Preacher of all the times

Charles Grandison Finney

Charles Grandison Finney
1829 – 1912 The Persuaded Life

No other person has influenced the subject of revival in America like Charles Grandison Finney. Nor did anyone better represent the untamed spirit of frontier America in the 19th century than Finney. His life and ministry spanned continents and controversy. In America, Finney was considered the father of modern revivalism with over 500,000 conversions resulting from his ministry. Historians claim that in many ways, Finney laid a well-paved road for mass evangelists who would come after him-Dwight L. Moody, Billy Sunday, and Billy Graham.

Born in 1792, Finney's earliest desire was to become a lawyer. However, God had another direction in mind for him. Even though he began to fulfill his dreams by studying law and working in law offices, Finney was restless and struggled with the fate of his eternal destiny.

In his published memoirs, Finney said he came to a point of decision-the question of his soul's salvation had to be settled before he could continue his studies. A well-chronicled experience tells how he left his house one morning for a walk. After a quarter of a mile, "I turned to go up into the woods, I recollect to have said, 'I will give my heart to God, or I never will come down from [here].' I had gone into the woods after an early breakfast; when I returned to the village, I found it was dinner time."

During the time Finney was alone with God, he remembered kneeling in prayer and being converted. The event was so profound that he said it was as if "waves of liquid love [were flowing] throughout his body."

The next day Finney announced that he would no longer seek a career in law, but instead would become a minister of the gospel. He was licensed to preach in December 1823; and soon after, the Female Mission Society of Western New York commissioned him as a missionary to Jefferson County. No one realized that God was preparing to ignite a revival fire that would sweep across the country.

Finney fearlessly addressed his listeners with passionate revivalism, never side-stepping the awfulness of hell and unbelief. Many have likened him to an Andrew Jackson in the pulpit, concluding that Finney preached a gospel that was written on buckskin. In 1825, Finney was asked to preach in western New York. The results were immediate and exciting. Many within the crowd wanted to know how they could receive assurance of salvation.

The response that followed in towns such a Utica and Rome, New York, was characterized by the same hunger to know Christ. His ministry in Rochester from 1830-31 has been called the greatest year of spiritual awakening in American history. Historians tell how shops and markets closed, so people from every walk of life could attend the meetings. Local taverns went out of business as the hearts of people were changed and softened to God's redemptive message.

Finney believed that true repentance and faith in Christ-a turning away from sin and to God-were the keys to spiritual conversion. Said Finney, "Probably when we get to heaven, our views, joys, and holy exercises, will so far surpass anything that we have ever experienced in this life, that we shall be hardly able to recognize that we had any religion while in this world."

Earlier in his career, Finney regarded himself a self-made theological man, claiming he "had read nothing on the subject except my Bible." However, later he taught pastoral theology at Oberlin College in Ohio, where he also served as college president and wrote two books on systematic theology.

One historian said he "unleashed a mighty impulse to social reform by insisting that new converts make their lives count for the Kingdom of God."

While Finney's overseas influence was limited, thousands did come to know Christ through his preaching in England. As a result, church membership grew.

Many of Finney's books remain in print today. Lectures On Revivals has been translated into several different languages. Finney's messages cause us to think about our own eternal destiny. His words concerning obedience and purity to God still lead us to a point of decision.

A.W. Tozer once said, "We must not think of the Church as an anonymous body, a mystical religious abstraction. We Christians are the Church and whatever we do is what the Church is doing. The matter, therefore, is for each of us a personal one. Any forward step in the Church must begin with the individual."

Revival does not begin with the masses. It begins in the hearts of individuals who long to know and taste the goodness of God's eternal mercy and grace. Nor is it confined to the experience of conversion from sinner to saint. All of us from time to time need a fresh awareness of God's presence in our lives. Personal revival is one of the most intimate moments we can spend with the Savior.

Have you grown weary from life's stresses and continuous pressures? Christ will revive you and bring freshness to your heart and soul if you come to Him in humility and honesty. The message of revival that Finney preached is nothing more than discovering increasing intimacy with Jesus as Savior, Lord, and Life.

Steps to overcome masturbation and Porn

If you are having problems with masturbation and porn, these prayers are for you. Take the following steps:
s
1. Declare a fast. Your flesh must die before you can overcome sexual sins. The more you fast, the more yoour spirit man comes alive and you sub due your flesh. Fast periodically, once a week…..as the spirit leads you.

2. Cut off evil friendships. Most people that are into these, are introduced into it by friends and peers. Surrond your self with godly people.

3. Watch what you watch, hear and see. Evil communications, the Bible say, corrupt good morals. There are some Television stations I have banned in my house in order not to corruptly influence the children. Cut off romantic movies, sexy films, x ray magazines…you have no business reading novels with explicit sexual narrative

4. Be aggressive and cast off any thing that leads you to sexual perversion. If you are the type that jumps from one chat room to another visiting looking at naked pictures..then it is better you throw off your web cam..and dash out your computer and internet facilities. The Bible says it is better you enter the kingdom of God with one eye..than enter hell with two eyes.

5. Make your mind to overcome evil..the spirit of God will streghten you as you make up your mind.

6. If you are single and ripe for marriage, get married instead of burning with lusts. If you are married, and your wife or husband is not living with you…..then…make a rearrangement so that you can be cleaved with your husband/wife as the Bible says.

7. Tell someone your problems…as you are doing that you are exposing the demon sponsoring masturbation in your life. Evil thrives under secrecy. Dont hide your secret sin. Expose it and disgrace the enemy. Tell someone to pray with you on this.

8. Fast and Pray

9. Compile scriptures on Holiness and stand on them.

10. Seek deliverance from a church that understands what you are going through, not from the spiritually docile and entertainment churches that pervade the land.

Smith Wigglesworth-Classical Pentecost-Apostle of Faith

Smith Wigglesworth (1859 - 1947)

Smith Wigglesworth
1859 – 1947

Beginnings of Healing Ministry

Smith Wigglesworth had a plumbing business in Bradford, England. Every Tuesday he would take people to Leeds to a group who practiced divine healing because they could not persuade Smith that the people could be healed in Bradford. Smith's wife Polly was healed in Leeds.

One day the leaders decided to go to the Keswick Convention and leave Smith in charge of the meetings at Bradford. Reluctantly Smith agreed. He hoped to persuade another to preach but each person he asked insisted that he must do it himself.

In that meeting, as Smith preached, he could not remember what he said but fifteen came out for healing. The first man was instantly healed after prayer. No one was more surprised than Smith himself. This encouraged the others to believe God and they were all healed. Smith said that it was not his faith but God helping in his hour of need. As a result, healing meetings were started in Bradford.

The work grew and they moved to other premises in Bowland Street. The text at the front read, "I am the Lord that healeth thee" and was an inspiration to many. A brother with a healing ministry came and was invited home for tea. Polly asked, "What would you think of a man who preaches divine healing, yet he himself uses medical means every day?" "I should say that man did not fully trust the Lord" was the answer. After the meal Smith told that he had suffered from hemorrhoids since childhood and used salts every day. They agreed to trust God for healing and, from that time forward, his system functioned naturally without any means whatsoever.

Their Promise

After this, Smith and his wife, Polly made a pledge to God, "From henceforth no medicine, no doctors, no drugs of any kind shall come into our house." Not long afterwards, Smith was gripped by a violent pain and was brought home. He and Polly prayed all night but, as he was worse, he thought it was his "home call." Smith reminded her of their agreement that, if one received a "home call," the other would send for the doctor to avoid the embarrassment of an inquest and the condemnation of outsiders.

The doctor diagnosed Smith with appendicitis in an advanced state. The only hope would be an immediate operation but his body was probably too weak. The doctor left, promising to return later. An elderly lady and a young man came and prayed. The young man laid his hands on Smith and cried, "Come out, devil, in the name of Jesus." Smith testified, "To my surprise the devil came out and I felt as well as I had ever been." He went downstairs and told his surprised wife, "I am healed." Answering a lady who left an urgent message in need for a plumber Smith went to help her.

While he was out the doctor returned and pronounced, "They will bring him back a corpse!" That "corpse" preached the gospel in many parts of the world for another 40 years. He was instrumental in bringing thousands of people to salvation, baptism in the Spirit and healing in God. About twenty people were raised from the dead during Smith's ministry. He believed great trials lead to a deeper experience with God. "Only melted gold is minted" was one of his sayings.

His Early Life

Smith Wigglesworth

Smith was born in 1859 and at the age of seven he was working twelve hours a day with his father to supplement the family finances. As a result he had little education. He was born again at eight and immediately sought to win others to Jesus Christ. His mother was his first convert.

Smith was called by God to, "Come out." First from the Methodist, then the Anglican, Brethren, Salvation Army and so on. He ministered in Elim and Assemblies of God but he remained independent of any denomination.

His wife Polly was a great help, teaching him to read and write. Smith slipped back when his business prospered and God used her to restore him. He had a violent temper but God gave him victory.

In 1907, when he was 48, he was baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tongues. His wife was a good preacher and she had tried without much success to help Smith. She, and many others, were surprised at his fluency after the baptism in the Spirit.

His Preaching

Smith read little other than the Bible. He waited for the Spirit to direct him to a particular passage for his ministry. He often gave a short message in tongues which he immediately interpreted.

Frequently he would quote a chorus. "Only believe" was one of his favorites. Another, which was his testimony, was, "I know the Lord laid His hand on me. Filled! A flowing, quickening, moving flame of God."

Some examples of God's healing power would be related. He believed his sermons should make his hearers either glad or mad! He would say, "If you do not progress every day, you are backsliding."

When he was preaching in Norway, the town hall was full and thousands were outside. He had prayed for something different to happen. God said to him, "If you will ask Me, I will give you every soul." Smith knew it was God but was slow to accept. He did ask and the Spirit swept over the place. He had never seen anything like it. Many cried for mercy and he was convinced that God gave him every soul.

Faith When We Do Not Understand

Although Smith believed all sickness was from the devil and everyone could be healed, there were some difficulties. The untimely death of his wife in 1913 was a real blow. He commanded death to give her up. She said, "Smith - the Lord wants me." "If the Lord wants you, I will not hold you" was his response but he greatly missed her.

His daughter, Alice Salter frequently traveled with him after Polly's death. Alice was deaf and was never healed. His youngest son, George, went to be with the Lord in 1915.

Early in the 1930's an X-ray revealed Smith was suffering from kidney stones. An immediate operation was necessary to avoid a painful illness and eventual death. "Doctor, the God who made this body is the one who can cure it. No knife shall ever cut it as long as I live" was his response. He endured six years of pain before he was delivered. Later he suffered from sciatica which made walking painful and often, he was more sick than the people he prayed for! At seventy eight he ruptured badly and in 1944 he suffered a slight stroke. He was quickened in 1945 and was able to chair the Easter convention at Preston.

His Prophecy

Early one morning in 1937 in South Africa, Smith marched into the office of the secretary of the Apostolic Faith mission. He prophesied what we now know as the Charismatic Revival. This man of 31 would play a major part in it if he remained humble and faithful. At that time, there was considerable antagonism between the established denominations and Pentecostals although there were some refreshing exceptions. That man was David du Plessis. Smith also told him, "The day I pass away, then you can begin to think about it." In 1947 du Plessis went to the World Pentecostal Conference in Zurich. From that point on, his ministry and influence developed.

Smith died on 12 March 1947 at the funeral of Wilf Richardson. His ministry is summed up in his own words, "There are four principles we need to maintain: First, read the Word of God. Second, consume the Word of God until it consumes you. Third believe the Word of God. Fourth, act on the Word." As George Stormont put it, "He lived so that people would only see Jesus."

Acts 4:13 is true of Smith, "When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." (NIV) A week earlier, he prophesied a second move of the Spirit. This would bring a revival of emphasis on the Word of God. He added that, when these two moves of the Spirit combine we shall see the greatest move the Church of Jesus Christ has ever seen.

SIKU YA UCHAGUZI MKUU OKTOBA 31, 2010 TUMUUNGE MKONO ASKOFU KAKOBE

Ndugu Mhariri,
Zipo faida kadhaa kwa maaskofu kuwaruhusu watanzania wenye sifa kwenda kupiga kura siku hiyo ya jumapili na kutokuwa na shughuli nyingine za ibada siku hiyo;

Mwandishi : Shikamoo Kamanda Nzowa.
Nzowa: Marahaba.

“Eee, Bwana nakuinulia nafsi yangu, ee Mungu wangu nimekutumaini wewe nisiaibike…”

A MIRACLE FOR JUSTIN

For those of you who think God is "dead" or non-existent, I beg to differ. I became a believer when I was just 11, but never really understood the magnificent power and level of mercy of God Almighty until I almost lost my son...

This is my story:

I know what I believe, because I became witness to a horrific automobile accident involving my 5 year old son. If I could go back and video-tape that horrible moment after all these years, I would. Just so other people out there who have no clue of who God really is, or may have never clung to their own faith with white knuckles while feeling like their heart was being ripped from their soul. I was a God-fearing, Bible-believing person before this ever took place, but God had a lesson for me to learn...

After an exhausting day of preparing for a family trip, I took my two children, and a friend to a local roller rink. After exiting the car, I looked up to see my five year old little boy already across the street waving to me, and looking so proud that he'd made it over there all on his own. After I recovered from my initial shock, I yelled at him for disobeying the rule of crossing the street while holding my hand. In direct response, he started running back to me. He ended up tripping in the middle of the road and fell down.

At that moment, a large black car came racing down the street toward him doing about 60 mph. I went to run to him, but felt my feet cemented to the ground. I couldn't move. In disbelief, I watched the car zoom by right in front of me, and in a desperate attempt, reached out my arm and cried, "Oh God." I watched in agonizing horror as the car ran over my son.

There was smoke from the driver skidding his brakes. No one ever got out of the car. It was black, and had very dark tinted windows. I never saw the driver. I turned around to yell to my daughter and her friend to "stay put" as I tried to prepare myself to see my son's body parts all over the place. I started walking, then shaking. All I could do was look at the ground, because that's where I expected to see his maimed body. But when I got around to the rear of the car, and then the other side, I saw nothing. I looked up, rather confused, and my daughter yelled over to me asking if Justin was OK. I said, I didn't know, because I couldn't find him. There wasn't any blood.

Then I took a deep breath and got on my hands and knees and looked under the car. He wasn't there either! I just stood there, feeling like I was in a really bad dream. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw him. He was STANDING UP on the curb of the side of the road he'd originally crossed over to. I quickly ran over to him, and hugged him with all my might. He looked like he was in shock. I kept asking him, "how did you get all the way over HERE?" He just shook his head. I waved for the driver to go, and he did. Nobody ever got out of the car. After looking all over my son's little body for broken bones, cuts, etc., I noticed he didn't have a scratch on him. Not even from when he fell in the middle of the street.

That entire day, prior to going to the skating rink, I'd been complaining ALL DAY about my kids, and how I must have heard the word, "mom" a thousand times. I kept muttering to myself that if I never heard the word, "mom" again, I'd be happy. I didn't realize that until later, as I was putting my children to bed. After a sudden realization, I couldn't drop to my knees fast enough, and beg God's forgiveness for saying such things, then I thanked Him for saving Justin's life. My son is living proof that MIRACLES DO HAPPEN. I believe that with all my heart. He is 21 now, and the light of my life. So tell me...What do YOU believe?

Don't let the devil steal your joy or one more day of your SOUL. Give your life to Jesus...I promise, you'll never be the same again.

GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY, but GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL

GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY, but GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.
We make a Living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

'Good friends are like stars,You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.'

Chilean Miners: There were 34 persons under the ground and not 33 as reported by media

Chilean Miner: 'God Has Never Left Us'

Trapped miners owe a lot of their sanity to the 34th person in the tiny underground community.

Jimmy Sanchez, one of the 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped for over two months in the San Jose copper-gold mine in the Atacama Desert, would like to make one small correction to all the stories about life in the mine:

“There are actually 34 of us,” the nineteen-year-old miner wrote in a letter sent up from the mine on Tuesday, "because God has never left us down here."

Amid reports of squabbling on the surface among families of the trapped miners, some say things are much calmer underground as everyone prepares for this week’s attempt to bring them back up. The men have worked hard to keep their spirits buoyant during the ordeal, organizing themselves into a community and dividing up their living-room-sized space. Early on, they set aside a space to pray daily, and religious groups have converged on the mine to serve the miners' spiritual needs. Once a supply line was established, Seventh-Day Adventists sent down mini-Bibles with magnifying glasses; the Jesus Film Project loaded 33 MP3 players with an audio adaptation of the famous JESUS film. A crucifix was sent down in August, and it's said that miners also requested statues of Mary and the saints. The miners signed a flag which was presented to Pope Benedict this weekend.

Christian leaders of various denominations have come to the San Jose mine; the Guardian is rather bemused by all the activity, describing a “surge in religious fervor” as the rescue operation takes shape.

Baptist Press reports that two miners have made professions of faith since their entombment started. Pastors are also ministering to the families of the miners, who have camped out nearby.

“In the midst of this catastrophe, God is in control, and it is the Lord who has kept their family members alive," says Marcelo Leiva, pastor of Vallenar Baptist Church in Vallenar, Chile.

The miners are also thinking a lot about their family lives. Esteban Rojas, who never had a church wedding with his wife Jessica Yanez, has proposed again after 25 years. Others have decided to end their “empty” marriages. Miner Johnny Barrios has two women waiting for him topside, both of whom came to the San Jose mine to pray for his return. "Johnny doesn't want to come up," a psychologist working with the miners quipped in theGuardian.

As the hours tick away toward the expected rescue, the families holding vigil at San Jose are far from the only ones praying for the safe and speedy rescue of the 33 men. Spirits are so high that the miners are fighting among themselves about who will be the last to ascend—too many men are volunteering to stay down till the end. They’ve also contacted a lawyer to work out a deal by which they can share profits equally from the story.

Whatever happens when he and his compatriots stand in sunlight once again, Jimmy Sanchez wants to hold on to the lessons he’s learned in the past few months.

“God wanted me to stay here, I don't know, maybe so I change from now on,” Sanchez wrote.”I have thought and I'll change a lot. I have suffered too much and don't want to suffer any more. In the hard moments I was thankful of God because I got a daughter. I expect than when my turn arrives everything will be OK. Hugs for everyone."

The story behind the Chilean miners' Jesus T-Shirts

As miners were being pulled from Chile's San Jose mine Wednesday, most were wearing tan T-shirts over their coveralls. The Chilean government told reporters the green coveralls were designed to help absorb the sweat as they ascended to the top.

But Wes Little, a CNN editor/producer in Atlanta, wondered why the miners were wearing the T-shirt over their coveralls. He noticed a logo on the T-shirt's left sleeve for the Jesus Film Project.

Here's what we found:

The Jesus Film Project is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International, the massive Orlando, Florida-based evangelical ministry.

The Jesus Film Project tells us they have translated the film into 1,105 languages and that it has been seen in every country. You can watch or listen to over a 1,000 of the translations here.

The main goal of TJFP's ministry is to create and distribute effective media in every language, says Berry Fiess, the group's director of field information services.

Seventeen days into the mine accident, CCCI country director for Chile, Christian Maureira, started contacting public officials to see if they could send the miners a copy of the film. Fiess said Maureira was able to reach a daughter and a brother of miner Jose Henriquez.

Through that family contact, the group was able to send an MP3 audio version of the Jesus film and an MP3 audio version of the New Testament in Spanish to Henriquez down in the mine.

The Jesus film explains that the New Testament tells how Jesus is laid in a tomb-like cave after his crucifixion. Three days later, Jesus is said to have risen from the dead. In the Jesus film, women come to the tomb and find the stone that blocked the entrance has been rolled away, the cave empty.

It is unclear if the miners saw the resurrection story as a parallel for their hoped-for rescue, but Jose Henriquez passed along a letter to CCCI's Maureira from inside the mine. Fiess shared the English translation with CNN:

Thank you for this tremendous blessing for me and my coworkers. It will be good for our spiritual edification. I am fine because Christ lives in me.

We have prayer services at 12 noon and 6 pm.

"At the end of the letter," Fiess said, "(Henriquez) said goodbye with Psalm 95:4, which says, 'In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him.'"

A few days later, Henriquez asked Maureira to get them special T-shirts.

"The T-shirts were a gift from Campus Crusade for Christ Chile," Fiess said. "In the front you can read, 'Gracias Senor' – 'Thank you Lord.'"

And on the back, Psalm 95:4.

"Apparently, all the miners liked them," Fiess said. "It kind of solidified them.
"

2 Chilean Miners Come to Jesus Christ While Trapped Underground

For more than two months, 33 Chilean miners have been trapped beneath the desert floor in a chamber the size of a living room. A partial collapse blocked the mine exit Aug. 5.

Chilean Mining Minister Laurence Golborne confirmed Oct. 11 that a trial run of a rescue capsule was successful. The miners' rescue is scheduled to begin at midnight, Oct. 12.

When the mine collapsed, three of the miners -- including Henríquez -- were Christians. Since then, two more of them have made professions of faith.

"It was José who made the request that an evangelical pastor come to minister to the miners and their families," said Bryan Wolf, an International Mission Board (IMB) missionary serving in Vallenar, Chile.

Rescue engineer Igor Bravo, a member of First Baptist Church of Santiago, was one of the first to hear of Henríquez's request for a pastor and contacted the Chilean Baptist Union.

Bernardino Morales, director of the Baptist union's Social Testimony Network, searched for a pastor who lived near the mine in Copiapó but no one was available. Two weeks ago he called Marcelo Leiva, pastor of Vallenar Baptist Church in Vallenar, Chile, located about two hours away.

"Pastor," Morales said to Leiva, "it's either you, or it's you."

Leiva's response: "Amen."
